About Mrs. Deiter

My name is Mrs. Deiter, and I am SO excited to continue teaching Kindergarten this year at the Kindergarten Academy!  When I began teaching in 2005, I worked as a substitute teacher for a few months before teaching first grade at Elmwood Elementary.  I moved to second grade for two years, and then finally settled at the Kindergarten Academy when our district moved to full day Kindergarten.
I live outside of Ickesburg, PA in rural Perry County.  My home is surrounded by farm land, and our closest neighbors raise buffalo on their farm.  I have a home where the buffalo roam - literally!  I live with my husband Zach and our three children Gavyn, Lyvia, and Lyam.  Gavyn is graduating from college this year, Lyvia is in second grade, and Lyam is preparing for preschool next year.
I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education.  I also received my Master's degree in Literacy Education from Penn State, and I am certified as a reading specialist.  Early childhood education and literacy are two of my biggest passions, and I am so happy to get to spend everyday doing what I love!
