Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Because safety is our priority during arrival and dismissal times at the Kindergarten Academy, please follow the procedures below if your child is a car/vehicle rider or a walker.  Together, we can keep everyone safe!

  • Drop Off:  Our Motto is “Stop, Drop, and Go!”

    • Students may be dropped off at school beginning at 7:30 AM but no later than 7:40 AM. Car/vehicle riders will enter at the Norway Street entrance, which is the main entrance for Kindergarten Academy.

      • Car Riders: You will pull up into the loop to drop your child off and have your child exit the car on the passenger side by the sidewalk.  You will be responsible for unbuckling car seats and ensuring that your child is on the sidewalk. Cars should only unload along the painted curb.  Please be considerate of others waiting for drop off and make your “goody-byes” quick. Parents may not drive around other parents after dropping their child off and should wait until the car in front of them has pulled away before leaving.

      • Walkers:  All walkers will enter the building through the main Kindergarten Academy door. There will be a crossing guard to help navigate car rider traffic. Parents may come using the sidewalks around Kindergarten Academy. Parents should walk their child to the front door to drop them off.

    • All students need to be in the building by 7:40 AM.  At 7:40 AM, the bell will ring, and Kindergarten staff is instructed to turn around and go into the building to start their morning duties. Once KA staff has returned to the building, parents will need to escort their child in to the KA office.

  •  Pick Up

    • Car Riders:  When entering the Norway Street car rider loop, you must use the School Dismissal Manager App to scan the QR code at the entrance of the loop (please see map on back of document). By doing this, the staff will know the order of the cars and who will be picking up your child.  We will dismiss students in groups with each group being escorted by a staff member. Kindergarten staff will walk your child to your car, and you will need to buckle him/her into the car seat on the passenger side of the car.  If you are waiting in the line and are not yet at the painted curb, please wait for the staff to signal before pulling your car up.  This will allow us to ensure that everyone is safely inside vehicles. If your child is in your car, and the car in front of you is still loading, do not pass the cars in front of you to leave. This presents a significant safety issue and could result in an accident with a pedestrian.

    • Walkers: We will dismiss students one at a time from the main entrance of Kindergarten Academy. Please make sure that you have your photo ID available. When you see your child, please wave, and we will have your child wave back and then unite the two of you.  Please safely exit using sidewalks and crosswalks.

  • Important Safety Reminders:

    • We are a cell phone free car rider zone.  We want everyone’s attention on the safety of our children.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation to ensure the safety of our students and staff!

    • It is expected that all students are loaded and unloaded from the passenger side of the car. They may not exit or enter their cars on the driver’s side. This is a recommendation from the state police department to ensure that students are not walking on an active street and that they remain safe.

    • Parents who are in line may not get out of line for any reason. When parents drive around other parents in line, they present a significant safety risk that could result in a pedestrian accident. Parents must wait until the car in front of them has left before leaving the car rider line.

    • Students will only be released to those who check-in via school dismissal manager. If a pick-up adult is not in school dismissal manager, staff will ask parents to park in the parking lot and come to the front office with a valid ID before releasing the student.
